Rent Rise Check

Terms of use

Last updated 25 October 2026.

What this site is

Rent Rise Check shows what the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) decided in published decisions on rent increases and rent repayment orders, with figures read from those decisions, and facts from councils' licence registers and the Office for National Statistics. It is an independent project, not part of the tribunal, HM Courts & Tribunals Service or GOV.UK. It is free to use, without an account.

Information, not advice

Everything here is information about past decisions and public facts, not legal advice. It does not say what rent anyone ought to pay or how any case will be decided: each tribunal decides on the evidence in front of it. For advice about your situation, contact Shelter (0808 800 4444), Citizens Advice, a solicitor or a local renters' union. The letter templates and form helpers are templates: check and change anything before you use it.

No warranty

The figures are read from each decision by software and checked before they count, and every decision links to the original on GOV.UK, which is the authoritative version. Even so, errors are possible, and pages are provided as they are, without any warranty that they are complete, accurate or up to date. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using the site or relying on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Reporting an error

If a figure, date or description looks wrong, email hello@rentrisecheck.uk with the page's address and what you think is wrong. Each report is read against the decision itself and, where it is wrong, corrected; how accurate the figures are says how they are checked.

Removal requests

The decisions are public and published on GOV.UK, and the site shows no one's name. If you are a party to a decision and want it removed from this site, see removal requests.

The data

The decisions are Crown copyright, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0, as are the ONS figures; licence data comes from councils' public registers. How personal data is handled is in the privacy notice.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
