Who we are

Rent Rise Check is an independent project run by one person in England, not part of the tribunal, HM Courts & Tribunals Service, GOV.UK or any council. Contact: hello@rentrisecheck.uk.

Searching the site

• There are no accounts and no cookies. Nothing you type into a search, the notice checker or the licence checker is stored. Postcodes are sent to postcodes.io to find the location, and map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap; those services see the request like any website you visit.
• The server keeps no access log of request addresses, because they would contain postcodes and dates. A rate limiter holds your IP address in memory for up to a minute to stop abuse, then forgets it.
• Visitor counts use GoatCounter without cookies and without the query string, so no postcode reaches it.

Email alerts

• If you sign up for alerts we keep your email address, the postcode you gave and its location, the local authority, which decisions you asked about, and the dates we wrote to you. Nothing else.
• Nothing is sent until you confirm by clicking the link in the first email. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 48 hours.
• Every email has a one-click stop link. When you stop, your address is kept with the date you stopped so that it is never re-added by mistake; nothing further is ever sent to it. Email us to have it deleted outright.
• Your address is never shared, sold or used for anything but these alerts. Emails are sent through a mail provider, which will be named here when chosen.
• The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the stop link.

The decisions shown

Everything shown comes from decisions the tribunal has published on GOV.UK and from councils' public licensing registers. People's names are removed from everything we display: tenants, individual landlords, licence holders and managers. If a decision concerns your home and you want it removed from this site, see removal requests.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Write to hello@rentrisecheck.uk.
